The Global Economic Burden Of Dengue: A Systematic Analysis

New study published in the Lancet estimates the global cost of dengue including previously un-accounted for information in addition to medical costs such as likely under-reported scale of infections and indirect costs such as lost productivity. In the findings, the authors noted that “in 2013 there were a total of 58.40 million symptomatic dengue virus infections… and that the total annual global cost of dengue illness was US$8.9 billion.”
